The Army, Navy & Airforce’s service selection board is responsible for finding out future potential officers of the Indian Defense Force through their five days of SSB tests.
As per the age and entry, the desirous candidates must pass the written examination by the UPSC(NDA/CDS/OTA) and Air Force Department of recruiting (for AFCAT Exam) on a half-yearly basis.

In some cases, there is a direct interview being carried out by SSB itself based on the application received through Defense Service Headquarters.
As for the preliminary selection is concerned, the eligible candidate to apply & clear the written examination is the same as other main-level examinations such as staff selection commission examination or UPSC examination.
Cut-off marks as specified based on the numbers of candidates who appeared every year are generally determined for the call-up letter for SSB.
All those who got the above cutoff marks will be called for an SSB interview.
The service selection board consists of physiologists, Ground Test Officers(GTO), and Interviewing officers.
These three officers evaluate the candidate’s potential to become defense service officers, leading the team in the battle without care for his safety and comfort. Therefore, according to General Sir Philip Chetwode, during the first passing out parade said that.

Chetwode Motto was given by Field Marshal Sir Philip Chetwode when he delivered a speech at the formal inauguration of the Academy(IMA) in 1932.
The service selection board will assess the candidate’s potential to become an officer through a selection process of five days. They will determine the candidate’s personality based on the OLQ.

How to Develop OLQ on Daily Basis (Details)
>> Factor 1 – Planning and organizing
Effective planning and organization require the ability to create and use logical, systematic processes to achieve goals.
How can 11th class students or final-year graduates develop these skills of “planning and organizing” in day-to-day life?
It is straightforward and possible to understand the method by which the aspirants achieve their aim.
Future defense service officers must work with practical intelligence and reasoning ability in a day-to-day work environment.
The defense service officers work with a group, where they are different in all aspects such as physical, mental, and emotional parameters.
But he has to involve himself with reasoning ability which consists of inquiring attitude, resourcefulness, more of listening and motivating his team members to achieve a common aim.
A 10th/11th standard school or college student has many opportunities to plan and organize in the school and college.
For example, the Principal has tasked a student “A” to conduct an inter-school volleyball match.
What all things, the student “A” needs to plan & organize:
a) He has to prepare a program with the consultation of the leaders of other groups. He has to visualize the program’s sequence, the participants’ involvement, and the jury members.
b) He has to think about reasonable solutions to the problems, such as the team members’ presence and their administrative requirements.
c) He also works for the resources and facilities extended by the school/college authorities and presently existing in the playing ground itself.
d) He has to learn the new rules & regularizations of the game by understanding more about the game by inquiring, acquiring knowledge through books, friends, and teachers around him.
e) He has to be adaptive & utilize other team members’ knowledge to achieve a reasoning solution in each problem that may come across during the game’s progress.
f) His pleasant interaction through convention, knowledge, curiosity & independent solutions will generate confidence among group members
Thus the factor 1(Planning& Organizing) of the OLQ, consisting of practical intelligence, Reasoning ability, organizing ability & power of expression, will automatically generate the young 11th standard student while organizing/assisting in organing a small program in the school.

It is the essential characteristic of any human being looking forward to working as a social being. An individual has a different role to play in a basic family system itself.

>> Factor 3 – Social Effectiveness
The concept of social effectiveness tends to be explained in terms of an individual’s ability to identify, comprehend, and attain effective social networks that can produce advantageous career and life outcomes.
The defense aspirants can quickly develop social effectiveness through initiative, quick decision, Jovel nature and ability to convey own though in a confidential way.

A defense service aspirant should have the ability to generate positiveness in all their studies or works.
Let us take the 11th class student, the most energetic person in the family and surroundings. His studies, school, sports, and daily activities, including home affairs, will facilitate determination, courage, physical & mental stamina.

Think about a student studying in 11th standard class from the semi-rural school, where he is the head boy.
